Main pieces in my wardrobe: A quick numeral summary
Recently, I took a look at my wardrobe and had a (perhaps not exactly new) realisation: I own fewer JSKs than the average lolita apparently.
My wardrobe is far from massive and I slowed down a little in my new main piece acquisition for various reasons, but I count 2 JSKs (+1 pinafore and +1 summer dress with spaghetti straps).
On the flip side, I have 4 OPs (+2 Excentrique dresses, which are only borderline lolita, and +1 OP that has not shipped yet) and 6 skirts (+1 skirt that I always mentally segregate for some reason, +1 skirt that is relegated to eternal underskirt status, +1 skirt so plain I forgot about it entirely and +1 normie skirt that needs some embellishment and lengthening so it can migrate permanently). My wishlist has a couple more JSK picks.
There is one from BtSSB (because all the other cuts would not flatter me whatsoever), one from Haenuli (despite the poly chiffon not being terribly endearing), one from MM (prohibitively expensive and unlikely to fit me actually), the one that kept getting re-released and a floral underbust design (I wish VM had gone more Adele Bustier than Apron for the Classical Bouquet redesign release; while I still find the Bertille Rose JSK very cute, I am not optimistic about it fitting the way I want and scouring TaoBao has yielded a lot of high-waist skirts with suspender straps). Then we have one Meta OP I missed while it was still in stock, another sailor one from VM and several more skirts.
In an ideal world, that would amount to 9 OPs and 14 skirts (+ an undetermined number of underskirts) against 9 sleeveless dresses. More realistically, it would be 9 OPs and 13 skirts (+ underskirts) versus 7.
So, what is the point of this post? It is supposed to be a time capsule that will not get lost in the depths of my computer. I very much buy for keeps, but my taste has changed somewhat over the course of ten years. Who knows? Maybe my wardrobe will feature predominantly JSKs next time.
